Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy and Resources

Energy is anything that has the capacity to conduct a change of matter, it neither
created nor destroyed it can be transferred into one another.

4 fundamental properties of energy:

1. Transformed: An energy can be transformed to another type of energy, for

example the Eolic Energy form air can be transform into Electric Energy.

2. Transferred: An energy can be transferred to another energy like Wind Energy

from wind can be transferred to Electric Energy via Wind turbines and Electric
energy from Utility poles can be transferred into Thermal Energy using Radiator.

3. Transported: Energy can be moved to one place to another like Electric energy
it moves by the help of electric cables that connected to our houses.

4. Stored: Energy can be stored, for example cellphone batteries can store electric
energy that helps us to use the device freely and convenient.

Types of Energy:

Thermal Energy: Heat Energy is transferred by heat.

Mechanical Energy: Created by 2 object owing to their movements.
Electric Energy: Energy that carried by electrical currents.
Chemical Energy: Found in substance like food and fuels.
Light Energy: Energy found in Solar lights.
Eolic Energy: Type of energy that comes form wind.
Hydraulic Energy: Comes form the flow of water.

Before we proceed to Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy, we must know

first its resources, based on my research I conclude that the energy was dependent
on what we called natural resources.
Natural Resources was resources comes from the Earth, Sun, Atmosphere,
Water, Oil, Trees, and Coals. It makes our lives more comfortable, convenient and
easy. There is also two classification of Natural Resources these are Renewable
and Nonrenewable.

2 Classification of Natural Resources:

Renewable: A renewable resource can be replaced at the same rate in which the
resource is used. These are the types of renewable resources:
Solar, Wind, Hydraulic, Geo thermal, Bio mass, Water Falls.

Non-Renewable: A non-renewable energy is a resource that forms at a rate that is

much slower than the rate that it is consumed. These are the samples of non-
renewable energy: Coal, Oil, Natural Gas, Nuclear Fuel.

Now that we have an idea on what is resources, it will be easy now to Identify
what type of energy can produce of these resources. Let’s now proceed to
Renewable and Nonrenewable energies.

Renewable Energy: using renewable resources to create energy

Solar Energy: Energy come from the sun, it can obtain using solar panels that collects this
solar energy and transform it to become electrical/ thermal energy.

Eolic Energy: Energy that’s comes from the wind movements, and by the help of wind
turbines we can now create electricity using air movements.

Hydraulic Energy: Energy produced by water we stored in dams, because of the hydraulic
turbines it converts the energy of flowing water into mechanical energy and by the help of
hydroelectric generator the mechanical energy transform into electricity
Tidal Wave Energy: Energy that also comes from the water, it harnessing energy from the
waves of the sea using the method of Hydraulic system, they are both using water resource to
produce energy and the only difference between them was hydraulic energy needs to restore
water using dam to produce different variant of energy but tidal wave energy is dependent on the
power of the waves in the sea, this tidal wave energy was not yet widely use but it can be helpful
in the future.
Geo Thermal Energy: Energy that comes from the heat restored into earth, it can be used to
heating and creating electricity.

Advantage: Environmental Friendly, Limitless, Safe to use

Disadvantage: Vary location, Randomly to obtain.

Non-Renewable Energy: using nonrenewable resources to create energy

Combustion Energy: Energy that obtain by the help of the Oil resources, these Oil resources
can produce gasoline, gas oil that powers some of our engines .

Thermal Energy: Energy that created by burning coal, this resources is a substance that
forms using fossilization of the plants, although some of the renewable resources can create
thermal energy, but a coal has the capability also.

Heat Energy: Using the natural gas, we can create heat energy that helps us to heat our house,
the natural gas was extracted from deposits found under the ground.

Nuclear Energy: Chemical energy that extracted form shafts and mines, Uranium 235 is the
radioactive element that usually used to create this type of energy it can also create thermal and
electricity.

Advantage: None
Disadvantage: Contamination, Radioactive Residues, Created Environmental
Catastrophes.
