•TITLE: GLOBAL WARMING

GLOBAL WARMING
WHAT IS GLOBAL
WARMING ?
• the slow increase in the average
temperature of the earth’s
atmosphere because an increased
amount of the energy (heat) striking
the earth from the sun is being
trapped in the atmosphere and not
radiated out into space.
that global warming is not occurring and so
neither is climate change.
THERE ARE
THREE that global warming and climate change are
POSITIONS ON occurring, but these are natural, cyclic events
unrelated to human activity.
GLOBAL
WARMING that global warming is occurring as a result
primarily of human activity and so climate
change is also the result of human activity.
VISUAL
IMPACTS OF
CLIMATE
CHANGE
EVIDENCE
WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF
CLIMATE CHANGE
• Reduced food security
• Severed Precipitation
• Longer/Shorter Seasons
• Melting of Glaciers
• Rise in Droughts
• Diseases
• Hurricanes Frequency
• The rise of Sea Levels
• Unexpected Heat Waves
• Frequent Wildfires
• Reduced food securities
• Higher temperatures, water scarcity, extreme
events like droughts and floods, and greater
CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere will
impact the production of crops around the
world.
• Different crops grow best at quite specific
temperatures and when those temperatures
changes, their productivity will change
significantly
• Severe Precipitation
• Expected to intensify with global warming
over large parts of the globe as the
concentration of atmospheric water vapour
which supplies the water for precipitation
increases in proportion to the saturation
concentrations at a rate of about 6–7% per
degree rise in temperature.
• Cause severe flooding in cities and towns on
the coast where the sea levels are already
rising.
• Longer or shorter seasons.
• The Earth is warming and disturbing the balance of the seasons.
• Summers are growing longer due to climate change, while winters are dramatically shrinking.
•Melting of glaciers.
•Since the industrial revolution, carbon dioxide
and other greenhouse gas emissions have raised
temperatures, even higher in the poles,
•Melting glaciers add to rising sea levels, which in
turn increases coastal erosion and elevates storm
surge as warming air and ocean temperatures
create more frequent and intense coastal storms
like hurricanes and typhoons.
•Rise in drought.
•Warmer temperatures can enhance evaporation
from soil, making periods with low precipitation
drier so they would be in cooler conditions.
•Heat waves and low precipitation in that area
which will cause many forests to disappear.
•Diseases.

•Malaria and dengue fever.

•Hurricanes Frequency
•As the temperature of the oceans
rises, hurricanes and other storms
are likely to become stronger. With
the increase in global warming, the
water in the ocean warms up and it
heats up the surrounding air,
creating hurricanes.
•The rise of Sea Levels
•The melting of polar ice-caps and less
water evaporating into the atmosphere
are causing increased sea levels. Quaint
coastal towns and cities near the U.S.
east coast and Gulf of Mexico are just a
few areas where devastating flood
damage is starting to make its mark in
history.
•Unexpected Heat Waves
•If you thought last summer’s headlines of record
changing temperature was mind-blowing, just wait.
Because of greenhouse gases and other causes,
unexpected streaks of severe weather are just the
tips of the iceberg in global warming. Heat waves
cause dangerously hot weather and in recent years,
more deaths have occurred due to heat waves than
in the last sixty years.
•Frequent Wildfires
•While wildfires are a natural
occurrence, with the added carbon
dioxide in the air, and hotter summers,
the evidence speaks for itself. More
frequent wildfires continue to surface
in vast amounts each year.
WHAT CAN WE DO IN THE
DEVELOPING WORLD TO
SLOW CLIMATE CHANGE?
• They can pursue smart development, avoiding the worst mistakes of the
developed world.

• They can reduce – even reverse – their one major contribution to climate
change: unsustainable agriculture practices.
WHAT IS THE SOLUTION TO REDUCE GLOBAL WARMING
IN OUR WORLD?
• Power
• Industry
• Transportation
• Building
• Reduce water waste.
• Shrink your carbon profile
