Introduction

 Printing can be done from OS level as well from jbase level.


 For T24 to print, we have to set up printer in
1. OS level
2. jBase level
3. T24 level

Printer setup – OS level

 Before configuring printer at jBase and T24 levels, it is to be


setup at OS level.

 Printer setup differs from each operating system. Once


printer setup is done in OS level, try to print some file from
OS level.

Spooler setup – jBase level

 Before setting up the printer it is required to setup the


spooler which will hold the printers.
 jSpooler set up

SP-NEWTAB – This command will create the spooler


This will create jobs and jspooler log.
 Give permission to jspooler.

 Execute SP-STATUS from shell prompt and choose option


1(CREATE FORMQUEUE)
 STANDARD is the default form queue defined in jbase.
 Attach a printer

 Once the command is issued, the status provides the list of


printers configured at jbase level with other relevant details.

 To setup new printer, use 1.CREATE FORMQUEUE

 New printer created at jbase level. Status to be set as


ASSIGNED for the printer to accept request.

REST-SPOOLER PRINTER-NAME

SP-SHUTDOWN PRINTER-NAME

 Printer can be attached at


• User Level

• Department Level

• Report Level
REPORT.CONTROL DE.FORM.TYPE PRINTER.ID

Note:- The Printer attached at the user level always takes precedence.

 Define the printer in T24 level in application PRINTER.ID

 Make an entry DE.FORM.TYPE for the record


 Link the PRINTER.ID with the form type.

 Attach the DE.FORM.TYPE to the corresponding report in


REPORT.CONTROL.

Note:- T24 Server print option refers the record P.FUNCTION in


REPORT.CONTROL application.

 Attach the REPORT.CONTROL to the respective


ENQUIRY.REPORT to spool the output of the enquiry to the
specified printer.

 Note :- When the ENQUIRY.REPORT is verified, the output of the enquiry is spooled to the destination printer.

Case Study

 SERVER PERFORMANCE
Spooler has a great impact in affecting server performance.
It is mandatory to stop the spooler before shutting down
the server.
 SPOOLER MAINTENANCE
It is wise to recreate the printer once in a month. This will
improve the server performance. Make sure the printer
queue is empty before recreating the printer.
Spooler performance has a great impact on COB time.
