Introduction of Followership
Followership plays a vital role in accomplishing an
assigned mission both in Military and Civilian
Organization..
In Civilian Organization, followership is an action of
someone in subordinate role.
In the Military, followership is the ability or willingness to
follow a leader.
Three (3) Importance of Followership

1) Followers are potential leaders;


2) Most leaders are also followers;
3) The traits required from followers are the same traits
required from a leader.
Three (3) Interdependencies
Between a Leader and a Follower
1. Superior education, technical skills, and access to
information are no longer available; only to leaders or
the upper classes;
2. Leaders come from the ranks of followers;
3. Qualities that make effective followers are in
agreement the same qualities found in effective
leaders.
FOUR (4) QUALITIES OF AN EFFECTIVE FOLLOWER
1) Manage themselves well.
2) Committed to the organization and to a purpose,
principle, or person outside themselves.
3) Build their competence and focus their efforts for
maximum impact.
4) Courageous, honest, and credible.
TEN (10) RULES OF A GOOD FOLLOWERSHIP
1) Do not blame the boss.
2) Do not fight the boss.
3) Use Initiative.
4) Accept responsibility.
5) Tell the truth and do not quibble.

7) Suggest implementation.
8) Keep the boss informed.
9) Fix the problems as they occur.
