QUADRILATERALS
AND
PARALLELOGRAMS
REVIEW
• A quadrilateral is a paralleogram if it has two pairs of
paralell sides.
• A quadrilateral is a paralleogram if its diagonal bisect each other, if both, pairs
of parallel sides are congruent if both pairs of opposite angles are congruent, if
one angle is supplementary to both of its consecutive angles.

• The other characteristics of a parallelogram can be derived from the fact that
corresponding parts of congruent triangles are congruent.
CHARACTERISTICS OF SPECIAL
PARALLELOGRAMS
IN A RECTANGLE
• Opposite sides are congruent.
• Opposite sides are paralell
• Each diagonal separates the rectangle
into two congruent triangles.
• Opposite angles are congruent.
• Congruent angles are supplementary.
• All four angles right angles.
• Diagonals bisect each other and are
congruent.
CHARACTERISTICS OF SPECIAL
PARALLELOGRAMS
IN A RHOMBUS
• All four sides are congruent.
• Opposite sides are paralell.
• Each diagonal separates the rhombus into
two congruent triangles.
• Opposite angles are congruent.
• Consecutive angles are supplementary.
• Diagonals bisect each other and are
perpendicular.
• Each diagonal bisects a pair of opposite
angles.
CHARACTERISTICS OF SPECIAL
PARALLELOGRAMS
• A square is an equiangular rhombus
IN A SQUARE • A square is an equilateral rectangle.
• All four sides are congruent.
• All angles are right angles.
• Each diagonal separates the square into two
congruent triangles.
• Opposite angles are congruent and
supplementary.
• Consecutive angles are supplementary and
congruent.
• Diagonals bisect each other and are
perperndicular, and congruent.
TRAPEZOIDS AND KITES
TRAPEZOID
• A trapezoid is a convex quadrilateral.
• The bases of a trapezoid are two
parallel sides.
• The legs of a trapezoid are the two nonparallel
sides.
• The isoscles trapezoid is a trapezoid
with congruent legs.
• The median of a trapezoid is the segment that
joins the midpoints of legs.
TRAPEZOIDS AND KITES
KITES
• A kite is a quadrilateral with two pairs of
adjacent sides are congruent and no opposite
sides are congruent.
• The diagonals of a kite are
perpendicular.
