Opaque Objects

By,

Grade 3L
We need light to see things
Sun is the only source of natural light
Man-made or indirect sources of light
Light always travels in straight lines in all directions
A shadow is formed only when an object
blocks the path of light
A shadow is always formed on the opposite
side of the light source
Opaque objects do not allow any light to pass through them
For example: Wooden tables, Books
No light can pass through
Opaque Objects examples
Opaque objects form very
dark shadows
Investigating shadows using opaque objects

This is an example of how a shadow is formed in opaque objects. The light is shining
down on an opaque object ( the hand) and is not able to pass through onto the table. So
a very dark shadow is formed where the light could not pass.
