Ancient history of Uttarakhand

INTRODUCTION

We are here to provide you with information about the ancient

history of Uttarakhand so that you can learn more about it.
According to local mythology, the Ramayana and the
Mahabharata were written here, and the Pandavas arrived here.
Although people have lived in this area since the beginning of
time, we know very little about its past.

The Katyuri Dynasties, Chand Dynasties, Gorkharaj, and

British have all ruled Uttarakhand in addition to its two current
divisions (Kumaun and Garhwal). The Gorkha dynasty ruled
from 1790 AD, the Chand dynasty from 770 AD to 2500 BC,
and the Katyuri dynasty from 770 AD.
KUNINDA RULER KINGDOM
 The first political group to control Uttarakhand was the Kuninda
Rulers.
 Around the fertile area of the Ganges and Yamuna was where the
Kunindas’ empire first emerged.
 The Kuninda dynasty’s Amoghbhuti was its most ruthless
emperor. They used coins with the goddess and an antelope engraved
on them, made of silver and bronze.
  The Kuninda dynasty had two capitals: Kalsi and Saharanpur. Kalsi
served as the first. As a Buddhist, Kuninda was a believer. The Shakas
Ruler inherited control of their Plains region following Amoghbhuti’s
passing.
