Anything that developed using internet technology is
identified as an online platform. This means it can
include public-facing websites, web applications, digital
applications, social networks, ad networks, and even
search engines. Simply we use “online platforms” to
describe services that are available on the internet.
On line platforms currently include, but are not
limited to:

Cloud computing is so successful because of its

• The storing, naming, sorting, and handling
of computer files. It allows you to convert
and manage files without downloading the
software tool.

• The process and act of creating an

organized structure in which you store
information for easy retrieval.

1. First, switch the Computer Window view to Details view.
2. On the toolbar, click on the New Folder button.

3. Notice how the computer places a folder icon in the
main window display area.

4. We will be creating this folder in the root of the flash
drive, meaning that it will be directly “under” the
flash drive, as opposed to inside of a folder.

5. The folder icon has a label which is in edit mode

with a temporary name of New Folder.

6. Type Personal and press to commit the name.

7. Create a second folder and name it “Business”.

8. In the Navigation pane, click on the chevron next to

the Flash Drive location to expand the directory .

• The Navigation pane displays containers for files (drives and

folders). Files are shown in the Content pane.

provide exhaustive graphical and text
information in the form of maps and
databases.

Online mapping services are used for tasks
such as planning trips, determining
geographical positions, finding landmarks
and businesses, obtaining addresses and
phone numbers, and plotting storm tracks.
COMMON ONLINE MAPPING WEBSITES OR APPS
• GOOGLE MAPS – One of the more popular
driving directions web sites, Google maps was
one of the first to offer satellite and aerial
imagery as a backdrop.  Along with trip
planning, you can now check traffic and drag
and drop multiple stops and routes.

• MAPQUEST –offers driving

directions as well as the ability to
browse interactive maps for cities
around the world.
• MICROSOFT’S BING MAPS – Microsoft’s
Bing Maps allows for driving directions

distance. Also handy is the ability to toggle
back and forth between calculating
distance in miles or kilometers.

• Web pages can be created and modified by
using professional HTML editors. However,
for learning HTML we recommend a simple
text editor like Notepad (PC) or TextEdit
(Mac).
• Follow these steps to create your first web
page with Notepad or TextEdit.
