What is a function?

-A mathematical correspondence that assigns exactly

one element of one set to each element of the same or
another set.
- a variable <such as quality, trait, or measurement>
- In mathematics, a function is originally the identification
of how a varying quantity depends on another quantity. If
the function is called f, this relation is denoted by y=f(x), the
element y is the argument or the input of the function and y
is the value of the function, the output or image of x by f.
