GLOBAL SCENARIO
• The global footwear market size was valued at $ 365.5 billion in 2020 and is estimated to reach $530.3 billion by 2027 with a CAGR
of 5.5% from 2020 to 2027.
• Footwear are made up of different materials such as leather ,plastic , rubber and fabric.
• Leather is one of the prominent material used for fabricating footwear.
• Major players such as Nike, use eco-friendly raw materials including recycled car tires , recycled carpet padding, organic cotton and
vegetable-dyed leathers for producing footwear.
• The global footwear market is segmented into type, material, uses, distribution channel and region.
• It is bifurcated into leather and non-leather on the basis of distribution channel.
• Increase in use of artificial and synthetic in making sports shoes , sandals, slippers , casual shoes, sandals, sneakers is driving the
growth of non-leather segment.
NATIONAL SCENARIO
• The footwear sector is a very significant segment of leather industry in India, rather it is the engine of growth for the
entire Indian leather industry
• India is the second largest global producer of footwear after china accounting for 13% of global footwear production
of 16 billion pairs.
• India produces 2065 million pairs of different categories of footwear.
• India exports about 115 million pairs.
• The major production centres in India are Chennai, Ranipet, Ambur, Mumbai, Kanpur, Jalander, Agra etc..
• About 1.10 million are engaged in the footwear manufacturing industry.
• To further assist the process, the government has permitted 100% foreign direct investment through the automatic
route for the footwear sector.
FOOTWEAR-GLOBAL SCENARIO AND INDIA’S SHARE
• The global import of footwear increased from US $124.43 billion in 2013 to $134.943 billion in 2020, growing
at a rate of 2.1%
• During 2020, India’s share in the global import is 2 %.
• Footwear is the engine of growth of the leather industry.
• Indian export of footwear touched US $ 1993.13 million in 2016-2017 accounting for a share of 45% in India’s
total export from the leather sector.
• During 2016-2017, the main market for Indian footwear are USA with a share of 14.6%, UK 14.4%, Germany
12.2 %, France 6.4%, Italy 4.8 %, Poland 4%, UAE 3.7 %, Spain 3.3%, Belgium 3.2 % and Netherland 2.5%.
• These 10 countries together accounts for 80.53 % share in India’s total footwear export.
STATE SCENARIO
• Tamil Nadu accounts for 26% of leather footwear made in India and 45% of leather products exports.
Now its looking to become a dominant player in non-leather footwear. Which accounts for arrival 70% of
global trade.
• The advantage is two – fold. The sector is not capital intensive like other manufacturing industries. And it
provides a lot of jobs especially for women. With this is mind the state government last week unveiled an
exclusive policy for footwear and leather product.
• The policy aims to attract investments to the tune of 20,000 crore and provide employment to two lakh
people by 2025. The state hopes to achieve this by creating manufacturing clusters for non – leather
footwear and establishers component parks. Tamil Nadu stands first in leather and leather products exports
in the country

Cloth attachment:
Leather and cloth will be attached in this process which is the
first process in the manufacture of shoe upper.
Facing:
For the attachment process the ends of the leather will be
grinded.
Marking:
The places to be attached, stitched and the places for the lace
hole will be marked in this process.
Input:
The marked places will be stitched and the lace holes will be
done in this process.
Zig Zag:
It is the process of stitching the edges and corners in a zig zag manner.
Ribs band attachment
The bottom of the shoe will be stitched with an elastic for the comfort of
wearing the shoe.
Back counter stitching:
The heal angle will be obtained by the compressor machine in this process.
Vamping:
The edges will be grinded and the grinded portion will be folded. The
counter edges will be then attached.
Spraying:
A shining solution will be sprayed throughout the shoe and it will be dried
for almost 2 hours.
Bottom attachment:
The bottom lining sole will be attached with the processed upper and then
stitched and pasted.

PROCESS:
•The lining will be cut according to the size with the help of a dye.
•Leather and cloth lining are pasted and attached.
•Edges will be trimmed.

CONCLUSION
• Shoeline has grown and developed in a short time and in a very effective and efficient way. It can
be seen from the reputation of the organization across the world. It publishes article per year. And
yield turnover around of 60 Crores. It has been observed that the manages have their own
responsibilities towards the development of company and employees. This study helped to
understand how the key business processes are carried out in the organization and how information
is used in organization for decision making at various level. This study helped in improving
practical knowledge.
