1. What are Direct Statements?

 Any statement that gives the specific position and direction of an entity is called as direct statement.

 Example:

1. A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are sitting in a circle facing centre.

2. B sits 3rd to the right of A.
3. D sits 2nd to the left of A.

(Here in the above example second and third statements are direct statements since these statements
helps in identifying the specific position of the entities.

2. What are Possibility Statements?

 Any statement that gives multiple possibilities regarding the position or direction of an entity is called
as possibility statement.

 Example:

1. A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are sitting in a circle facing centre.

2. B is an immediate neighbour of A.
3. D sits between F and G.

(Here in the above example second and third statements are possibility statements since these
statements are giving multiple possibilities of entities.

3. What are Supportive Statements?

 Any statement that helps you to get a better understanding regarding the position of an entity is
called as supportive statement. However these statements does not give you the exact position of an
entity but instead helps you with support of other statements.
 Points to Remember

 Default direction in Linear Arrangement is always “North”

 Default direction in Circular Arrangement is always “Centre”

 “and” and “but” refers to the first person.

 “whose”, “who”, “which”, and “whom” refers to the second person.

 Sun rises in the “East” direction and sets in the “West” direction
