People involved in the programme of study


• Learner – you
• Tutor – person responsible for teaching the course and running the
workshops
• Assessor – person who will assess any written work or performance
in the workplace
• Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) – individual who checks assessor
decisions
• External Quality Consultant (EQC) – individual from C&G who
checks delivery and assessment of the qualifications and makes
sure decisions meet national standards

What is expected from L3 learners?


At Level 2 you were expected to be:
• ‘…aware of the types of information that are relevant to the area of
study or work’
• ‘Take responsibility for completing tasks’

At Level 3 you are expected to:


• ‘… have awareness of different perspectives or approaches within
the area of study or work’
• ‘Take responsibility for initiating and completing tasks including –
where relevant – responsibility for supervising others’

Successful studying: personal


• Be prepared to ask questions – there is no such thing as a silly
question so don’t spend time worrying

• Use feedback to help you identify goals and next steps in your
learning and development

• Ask for feedback from others to support you

• Try out new things in the workplace

• Use different sources to provide information for learning and


development

Walt Disney
Walt Disney was fired from his first job as a
newspaper reporter because he lacked
imagination and had no good ideas.

He started and failed at a number of different


businesses.

He kept trying and studying and eventually hit


success.

Fred Astaire
In his first screen test for MGM it was noted
that Fred Astaire: ‘Can’t act. Can’t sing.
Slightly bald. Can dance a little.’

He went on to become one of the iconic


actors, singers and dancers of his era,
appearing in many movies.

JK Rowling
JK Rowling’s first book was rejected by 12
publishers.

She is the UK's bestselling author since records


began, with sales in excess of £238 million.

In October 2010, Rowling was named the ‘Most


Influential Woman in Britain’ by leading magazine
editors.

Steven Spielberg
Steven Spielberg was rejected from the
University of Southern California School of
Theatre, Film and Television three times.

He dropped out of another school to become


a director and became a successful film
director and producer.

He finally returned to University and finished


his degree in 2002.
