Introduction:

• EMI: Electromagnetic interference is combination of different unwanted

radiations
• EMI Shielding: Electromagnetic shielding is the practice of reducing the
electromagnetic field in a space by blocking the field with barriers made of
conductive or magnetic materials.

Materials for EMI Shielding
For EMI shielding material should posses:
• High Conductivity
• High Complex electrical permittivity
• High magnetic permeability, flexibility
• Chemical Stability
• Light Weight
So we can classify materials into two categories:
• Magnetic material (Polycrystalline ferrites, Carbonyl iron, Fe3O4, and other
ceramic oxide)
• Dielectric loss material (Conducting polymers, carbaneous material e.g Graphene
CNTs etc)
Key Objectives for a EMI shielding material:

• It does not reflect back appreciable amount of energy necessary to be

observable.
• The absorption bandwidth of synthesized Material must be large
enough to absorb wide spectrum over wide frequency range.
• Synthesized material must dissipate as much energy as possible to be a
good absorber.
• Material should be easy to manufacture
EMI Shielding Effectiveness( EMI SE)
• EMI SE by reflection loss, absorption loss, and multi-reflection of incident
wave:

• EMI SE (dB) = SE+SE+SE

• SI unit of EMI SE is dB

The higher the dB value the higher

the EMI SE.
Objective:

• Synthesis of nanomaterial
• Doping of hexaferrites with different metal

• Carbon based material composite with doped hexaferrite

• Study of electrical and magnetic properties of nanocomposite at different dopant

concentrations
• Investigate the effect of doping in carbon hexaferrites composite on EMI
Shielding properties.
