What is pollution
• Pollution is the introduction of harmful materials into
the environment. These harmful materials are
called pollutants. Pollutants can be natural, such as volcanic
ash. They can also be created by human activity, such as
trash or runoff produced by factories. Pollutants damage the
quality of air, water, and land

Many things that are useful to people produce pollution.

Cars spew pollutants from their exhaust pipes. Burning coal to
create electricity pollutes the air. Industries and
homes generate garbage and sewage that can pollute the land
and water. Pesticides—chemical poisons used to kill weeds
and insects—seep into waterways and harm wildlife.
What are effects of pollution
 Pollution effects humans in every part of the world.
An October 2017 study by the Lancet Commission on
Pollution and Health found that global pollution,
specifically toxic air, water, soils and workplaces,
kills nine million people annually, which is triple the
number of deaths caused by AIDS, tuberculosis and
malaria combined, and 15 times higher than deaths
caused by wars and other forms of human violence
The study concluded that "pollution is one of the
great existential challenges of the Anthropocene era.
Pollution endangers the stability of the Earth’s
support systems and threatens the continuing survival
of human societies
HOW TO STOP POLLUTION
• There are many small, but critical sources of
air pollution in our homes and neighborhoods.
Such sources — vehicles, construction
equipment, lawn mowers, dry cleaners,
backyard fires, and auto-body shops — are
located where we live and work. Total
emissions from these smaller but widespread
sources are significantly greater than all the
industrial sources in the state combined.
1. THERE ARE SOME POINT TO STOP POLLUTION

1.Plant and care for trees.

2.Use less energy.
3. Don't burn your garbage.
WHAT ARE CAUSES OF POLLUTION
• One of the most significant natural sources of pollution
are volcanoes, which during eruptions release large quantities of
harmful gases into the atmosphere. Volcanic gases include
carbon dioxide, which can be fatal in large concentrations and
contributes to climate change, hydrogen halides which can
cause acid rain, sulfur dioxides, which are harmful to animals and
damage the ozone layer, and hydrogen sulfides, which are
capable of killing humans at concentrations of less than 1 part
per thousand.
