Objectives:
After the period, the students will be able to:

Enumerate the facts on pc troubleshooting. Familiarize the basic flowchart of pc troubleshooting. Familiarize the different technical details of the components of the motherboard. Determine the problem of the pc using beep codes Listen attentively during class discussion
Facts on Troubleshooting
1. Buy from a quality vendor with long warranties and a reputation for good service. Any PC magazine, such as PC World or PC Magazine conducts truckloads of product reviews and vendor reviews 2. Consider buying extended warranties , especially if they include on-site service 3. Keep all manuals , CD Drivers and documentation especially for the motherboard
4. No matter what weird behavior your computer displays, do the obvious first a. Rebooting cures most windows ailments b. Check all the cables and power cords c. Pay attention to error messages and write them down word for word . If you call a tech support , this is essential information.
5. Take it slowly and logically; often common sense is enough to see you through
6. Figure out if you have a software or hardware problem. Most of the time it will be software. 7. If it is hardware problem the CPU is least likely to develop terminal disease , hardware problems are most likely to take place in the memory and hard drives.
8. If it is software problem, uninstalling and then reinstalling a problem application often cures the problem
9. Always keep a system recovery disk in CD or in floppy disk.
