SELF-DRIVING CARS
A self-driving car can analyze surrounding
without any human interactions and take
decisions accordingly without any human What is a
interactions. Self-Driving
Autonomous robot navigation constitutes one Cars ?
of the major trends in robotics research. This
is inspired by existing gap between available
technology and new application demands.
Existing industrial robots have low flexibility
and autonomy: normally, these robots
implement pre-programmed sequences of
procedures in highly controlled
environments, and are not able to function in
new situations or face unpredicted states.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Last year saw a jump in the number of car fatalities, even as the pandemic kept many Americans off
the roads. The number of deaths per 100 million miles driven grew 24 percent from a year earlier. It
was the biggest single-year rise on record — and 2021 is on track to be just as bad. At the same
time, the promise of autonomous cars has never been closer. Waymo and Tesla are continually
improving their autonomous capabilities, drawing the tantalizing prospect of markedly less human
suffering ever nearer. But getting to that future is complicated. The decision to switch to
autonomous vehicles presents a very modern take on an old ethical dilemma: the famed trolley
problem.
In this project low cost prototype of self driving car is proposed and implemented. The car will
have a camera on board and with the feed video the analyzer computer can detect traffic signal (turn
right , turn left , stop) and give correct decisions to the car.
ADVANTAGES
Managing traffic flow
Reduce road accident
Reduce journey time
Elimination of driving licenses
Automatic parking
Avoid accidents
Environment friendly
