One may wonder if it is What may be most Valais Blacknose Sheep are hardy,
a stuffed toy, or a black and endearing about them is the native alpine sheep and are useful
white cartoon character. . . or typically placid and animals for conservation grazing (in
perhaps some strange hybrid docile nature, which is appropriate climates). They are a large,
between a Panda and a sometimes described dual-purpose breed with
longwool sheep?! The surreal, as almost dog-like! Unlike valuable meat and wool. But with their
almost faceless appearance — most mountain sheep good temperaments, many are kept
with unique, spiral horns as well breeds, Valais Blacknose do simply as pets
as wooly curls allover — not tend to be very flighty,
is stunning. but instead often seek out
human contact.
The Ladoum or Ladum is a breed of sheep prized in Senegal particularly in large urban centers ( Dakar , Thies , Mour,
St. Louis , Touba ...). It belongs to the group of Moorish sheep with short hair.
Origins
Two theories are put forward to trace the origins of the animal:
Some advance foreign origins of the animal which would have come from the Mauritanian area of Hodh El Gharbi
inhabited by the tribe of Ladem from where the animal would take its name and which was a little deformed to give
Ladoum . It would therefore be introduced in Senegal by Kayes , in Mali [ 1 ] , [ 2 ] .
Others maintain local origins since Ladoum is said to come from a cross between two other races, namely the Touabir
and Moorish sheep. This crossing would have taken place in the 1970s [ 3 ] .
