TYPES OF QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH

 Descriptive
 Correlational
 Causal-comparative
 Experimental
DESCRIPTIVE

 Generally concerned with investigating,

measuring and describing one or more
aspects/characteristics of one or more groups,
communities, and phenomenon.
 It answers:
How many? How much? How often?
How long? What percentage?
What factor? and similar questions.
CORRELATIONAL

 Studies the relationship between two related entities

 Itcan verify or disprove a systematic relationship between two
or more variable
 How one impacts the other or changes that are observed
Positive Relationship= high values of one variable correspond
with high values of the other

Negative Relationship= high values of one variable correspond to

low values in the other
CAUSAL-COMPARATIVE

 Attempts to determine the cause or consequences of differences

that already exist between or among group of individuals
 Looks to uncover a cause and effect relationship
 How the different groups are affected by the same circumstances
EXPERIMENTAL

 Researcher manipulates one or more variables and controls and

measures any change in variable
 Investigate the influence of one or more variables
 Proving past theories and statement
Answer the practice on page 13 of your
SLM1.
DEVELOPING A
RESEARCH TOPIC
What are you curious or interested about?
What makes you curious or interested about

something or someone?
What do you do when you are interested on

something or someone?
