Preposition
A preposition connects a noun or
pronoun to another word in the
sentence, showing the relationship
between them. Prepositions usually
answer the questions where? or
when?, telling about a person or
object’s location in either time or
space.

• My English lessons are on Monday and Wednesday
• The lesson starts at half-past eight in the morning
• The lesson finishes in one hour
• I go to work at 8 o’clock in the morning

Preposition of Time
• Preposition of time tells you when something is.
• Something can happen at a specific time, for example:
….at nine o’clock, ……at half-past eight,…..at lunchtime, …..at dinner time
• Something can happen on a specific day or date, for example:
……on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.
……on the 4th July, the 31st October, etc.
……on the last day of the month, …. On the first day of summer.
• Something can happen in a period of time, for example:
…… in 2001, ….in May, June, July etc.
……in the morning, afternoon, evening, etc.
…….in the summer, the spring, the winter, etc,

Preposition of Place
• It shows where something happens.
• Something can be near or at a place, for example:
She is standing at the bus stop. We are at the table. They are at school
• Something can be on the surface of something, for example:
The pen is on the table. You are sat on a chair. The picture is on the
wall.
• Something can be inside a place (or thing), for example:
We are in a classroom. The classroom is in a building. We are in a city
