DANCE
• Tinikling - Philippine dance which involves two
individual performers hitting bamboo poles,

Daanbantayan, celebrates a festival in honor of the warrior
Datu Daya of Kandaya.

Sinulog Festival is a traditional
celebration in Cebu City held
every third Sunday of January to
honor the Santo Niño (Child
Jesus). Basically, the festival is
done by a dance ritual, in which
it tells the story of the Filipino
people’s pagan past and their
acceptance of Christianity. The
word “Sinulog” means “graceful
dance”, wherein it all started in
1980 with a simple dance that
represents the “sulog” (or
current) of a river in Cebu.

Philippine sculpture is the most familiar art forms among


Filipinos. From the traditional curving of anitos to the santos to
Christ and down to the saints. Filipinos find it rather not difficult
as they are already familiar with the ways of the wood.

Ramon Orlina

is known for Abstract glass sculpture, painting,


architecture. Ramon Orlina was born in Manila,
Philippines. After completing his architectural degree at
the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, he practiced
architecture until 1974. He then began his career in art
painting, eventually turning to sculpture.
Agnes Arellano
Best known for surrealist and expressionist
work in plaster (cast and directly
modelled), bronze, and cold-cast marble,
Arellano's work tends to stress the
integration of individual elements into one
totality or "inscape".
Photography
refers to the process or practice of creating a photograph – an
image produced by the action of light on a light-sensitive
material

a celebrated photographer in the Philippines,
his artistic practice goes beyond the lens and
traverses into painting and sculptural works.

The practice of architecture is employed to fulfill both
practical and expressive requirements, and thus it serves
both utilitarian and aesthetic ends.
Contemporary Architects

Leandro Locsin was in some ways a quintessential
Renaissance man. A brilliant
architect, interior designer, artist,
and classically trained pianist,
Locsin was also a keen art
collector, amassing a sizable
collection of fine Chinese art and
ceramics during his lifetime. It is
for his buildings, however, that he
is remembered. From airport
terminals to memorial chapels,
arts centers to stock exchange
structures, Locsin left his mark on
the urban landscape of the
Philippines.
Ildefonso P. Santos
The father of Philippine landscape
architecture, Ildefonso Paez Santos,
or IP Santos as he was known,
created some of the best-loved
urban spaces in the Philippines.
Landscape architecture, which
deals with parks, plazas, and green
spaces, was a little-considered
element of urban planning in the
first half of the 20th century.
However, Santos changed that,
carrying out pioneering work that,
after four decades in the
profession, led him to become
National Artist for Architecture in
2006.
Film Making
the process of making a film. Filmmaking involves a number of
discrete stages including an initial story, idea, or commission,
through scriptwriting, casting, shooting, editing, and screening
the finished product before an audience that may result in a
film release and exhibition.
Ricky Lee
Filipino screenwriter,
journalist, novelist, and
playwright. He was
conferred the Order of
National Artists of the
Philippines for Film and
Broadcast Arts in 2022.
Starting in 1973, he has
written more than 180
film screenplays.
Brillante Mendoza
• is known as one of the key members associated
with the Philippine New Wave.
• Mendoza has directed sixteen films since 2005,
also he credited some cinematographer and
production designer under his alias. His first
collaborated with actor Coco Martin in seven
films: Masahista, Kaleldo, Foster Child, Tirador,
Serbis, Kinatay, and Captive.
• Mendoza directed the first and second State of
the Nation Addresses of President Rodrigo
Duterte in 2016 and 2017, respectively
Darryl Yap
known for Maid
in Malacañang
(2022), Martyr or
Murderer (2023)
and #Jowable
(2019).
Lea Salonga
a Filipina singer and
actress who starred in
the lead role of Kim in
the musical Miss
Saigon, for which she
won the Olivier, Tony,
