Purpose of Training

Type & method of Training
• Training is for ten (10) Days using different teaching
methodologies like
– PowerPoint Presentation.
– Group Discussion
– Role plays.
– Demonstrations, coaching & Practicing

Training contents
• Training course is divided into five modules
– Module 1 The School Health Programme.
– Module 2 The Sick Learner Examination.
– Module 3 Diseases.
– Module 4 Social Topics.
– And Module 5 Mentorship.

Module 1. School Health Program
This module
• Outlines concepts, systems and structures for the school health
service pillar of the SHN
• Policy guidelines that support programme implementation.

Module 2. Sick Learner examination
This module provides
• You with skills on how to look and ask for signs and symptoms
of diseases.
• An opportunity to learn how to use THINKMD a diagnostic
application used by teachers to diagnose and records all school
health activities in school.

Module 3. Diseases
This module provides relevant information for you to be able:
• To identify learners who are sick from these diseases in school;
• To prevent and protect learners and teacher to contract these
diseases; and
• To provide care to the learners who are sick from these
diseases and make referral to the health facility.

Module 4. Social Topics
This module provides relevant information for you to be able:
• Manage social factors that can cause mental illness and drugs
and alcohol misuse.
• To understand cultural values and stereotypes that contribute to
an increase in gender based violence and child abuse.
• To understand illnesses caused by nutritional deficiencies.
• Prevent sexually transmitted infections.

Module 5. Mentorship
This module provides relevant information for you to be able:
• Practice skills in counselling, mentorship for effective
communication .
• To understand how to provide frontline care, create networks for
enhanced partnerships
• To set up school health education sessions.
• To help bring out environmental health principles.

province, district and community (school & Clinics)
• Activities that prepares schools and clinic implementation of the
school health program
• Activities that sustains school health program implementation at
the school and clinic level

Administrative announcement
• Training begins at 08:00 & end 16:00 hours, daily. On some days it will
end at 17:00 hours.
• 15 minutes tea break morning & afternoon. Afternoon tea break will be at
the end of the day.
• 1 Hour Lunch
• Travel allowance will be paid to you through mobile money transfer in
three instalments
– By end of Day 1 transport for 4 days
– By end of Day 5 transport for 3 days
– By end of Day 7 transport for 3 days
