CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
 ABSTRACT:
 Since before and after the country's independence, print media in India has a delectable
history. The Indian print media played a magnificent part in the nation's war for independence.
Since its emergence, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted many aspects of our global
society. This is the study of the literature that reveals the impact of COVID-19 on print media
and also on the employees of print media.
 We shared the results of a poll that received 88 responses from all the employees of the print
media industry from the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The goal was to find out
whether the pandemic had a huge impact on the print media industry,their circulation figures,
and the employees' survival.
 India's first newspapers appeared during British rule. James Hickey founded the Bengal
Gazette, the country's first newspaper, in the year 1780.
 Periodicals and publications are regularly published throughout the nation at both the national
and regional levels.
 The rise of regional newspapers generated concerns about local sustainable development and
highlighted local events.
 The role of Print media plays a part in the development of communication in any country , the
government of India.
 Print medium was the first to be used as mass media for communicating the information. Print
media provide a platform for advertising and promotion of various products.
 India has been combating the corona virus disease also known as COVID-19 pandemics for
two years. This pandemic has affected not only India but also the entire world around.
WHAT CHALLENGES ARE PRINT MEDIA CURRENTLY FACING?

• COVID NEWS WAS SPREAD ON SOCIAL MEDIA DUE TO WHICH IN PRINT
INDUSTRIES SUFFERED IN DISTRIBUTION.
• NEWSPAPER SLOW CIRCULATION DUE TO FEAR OF COVID 19.

 PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

 The purpose of this research is the impact of Covid-19 on print media. The primary factors
that inspired our decision to perform this research are as follow:
 1. To study the impact of Covid-19 on national and regional print media
 2. To know what steps and planning have been taken by the print media in India to
overcome the pandemic Covid-19.
 3. To learn if covid-19 has an impact on the workers and the staff in the print media sector
 4. To know their survival and other source of revenue and alternatives
CHAPTER 2
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
 ▪ This chapter provides a review of relevant research on two topics .▪ The impact of covid 19
on indian national print media .▪ Study of impact of covid 19 pandemic on print media in
Maharashtra.

 Impact of Covid 19 on Indian national print media.


 This research paper was conducted by Vivek Kumar Saxsena ,is a part of research scholar
amity school of communication Gwalior India . This paper highlights both before and after
country’s independence, print media in India has a delectable history and it played a dazzling
role in the nation’s war for freedom . As India gained independence, variety of media outlets
helped to promote democratic values among its citizens. Print media has enjoyed greater
reader trust over past 5 decades than electronic and web media.
 The Covid 19 virus outbreak has presented numerous difficulties for the nations print media
over the past few months ranging from distribution issues to economic ones . On collecting of
news and information, advertising, distribution and creation of economy, print is now
inconclusive.

 ▪ Study of impact of covid 19 pandemic on print media in Maharashtra.


 ▪ This paper was conducted by Shradda yeole and sapna ghutke, is a part of the international
journal for modern trends and technology. This research paper highlights the impact of the
corona virus disease pandemic on the print media which is of Maharashtra. The government
enacted a number of regulations to halt the Pandemics spread. Maharashtra state was placed
under heavy lockdown during the first wave of Covid 19 pandemic. The printing and
distribution of newspaper were also halted to stop the pandemic from spreading. The print
media suffered greatly as a result of the protocol .

RESEARCH AND
METHODOLOGY
 RESEARCH DESIGN: The agenda of the research is to study the impact of covid 19 on the print
media industry and their employees,

 AIM ::The aim of this study is to find out the impact of covid 19 on the print media Industry and their
employees

 OBJECTIVE:
 1.How did the covid 19 had an affect the print media and its employees
 2. What was the circulation figure of the print media before and after the lockdown
 3. What was the source of income of the print media employees apart from their job
 4. How did the pandemic affect the employees mental health and their daily routine
 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
 The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of covid 19 on print media. it also
demonstrates how covid 19 has influenced print media employees. with a sample size of 88,
this survey approach was used to acquire data for this study by delivering a survey to print
media employees.a questionnaire with 17 items is included in the research survey. the inquiries
are centred on how covid 19 affected their lives and how the circulation was at the time.the
survey was conducted fully online, and the link to the questionnaire was distributed via social
media sites such as whatsapp and instagram. this chapter comprises a survey results report,
which includes an analysis and visual representation of the data.
 SOUCES OF DATA:
 We have chosen to distribute the form on various social media platforms in order to
contact people about the topic and collect their thoughts. Social media is the largest
platform for people to communicate from different regions . Through numerous social
media channels, including Insta gram and Whats App , the survey's primary data was
gathered and researched from the staff of the print media. For the purpose of the survey,
information and employees' opinions about the provided issue were gathered through the
use of 17 sets of questions.

 LIMITATIONS:

 It was online it was difficult for us together information 88 responses were collected to
protect the privacy they were not completed truthful in their responses.
CHAPTER 4
RESULTS AND ANALYSIS
 The major goal of the study is to look into the impact of COVID-19 on print media.
 In this results and analysis chapter, We also showed how COVID-19 has impacted the
employees of print media with the sample size of 88.
 this survey includes a questionnaire with 17 questions.
 The questions are based on how COVID-19 has impacted on their lives, mental health and
finances.
 The social media platform we use were WhatsApp and Instagram to forward links
 They were a total of 88 responses were 48.9% were males and 50% were females .
 Different age group employees have responded. 32.6% employees stated that the pandemic
has not affected the mental health.
 67.4 employees were affected and few employees were affected financially.
 When they were asked whether it was easy for them to get back to the daily routine or not?
 And we have concluded by asking that whether they have learnt any new skills or not.
CHAPTER 5
CONCLUSION
 The goal of this study is to determine the impact of Covid 19 on print media personnel and the
print media sector.
 The questionnaire has 17 questions and 88 replies. To maintain confidentiality, the
respondents' identities were concealed. The poll asked employees on how the covid 19
affected them financially and mentally. If they had any other source of income than the print
medium, tell us about the employee's daily routine. Difficulties in gathering news articles
during the lockdown, as well as concerns about circulation figures . We concluded from the
study that the majority of print media personnel were psychologically and financially
impacted. The majority of employees also have a secondary source of income.
