In 2013 K-12 curriculum was implemented in the

Philippines. K-12 opened different opportunities for


the students specially in gaining academic knowledge.
This includes the studying of different literature
around the world. Literature outputs, the history of the
writer, and the significance of the writing style/s of
different artists.
Grade 7

Philippine literature is literature
associated with the Philippines
from prehistory, through its
colonial legacies, and on to the
present.

1ST QUARTER
CONTENT STANDARD
The learner demonstrates understanding of: pre-colonial Philippine
literature as a means of connecting to the past; various reading styles; ways
of determining and word meaning; the sounds of English and the prosodic
features of speech; and correct subject-verb agreement.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learner transfers learning by: showing appreciation for the literature of
the past; comprehending texts using appropriate reading styles; participating
in conversations using appropriate context-dependent expressions;
producing English sounds correctly and using the prosodic features of
speech effectively in various situations; and observing correct subject verb
agreement.
2ND QUARTER
CONTENT STANDARD
The learner demonstrates understanding of: Philippine literature during the
Apprenticeship as a means of examining conflicts; various purposeful
listening and viewing strategies; difference between literal and figurative
language; ways to extract and condense information based on library sources;
verbal and non-verbal cues in oral communication; and types of phrases,
clauses, and sentences.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learner transfers learning by: resolving conflicts presented in literary
selections; using tools and mechanism in locating library resources; extracting
information and noting details from texts to write a précis, summary, or
paraphrase; distinguishing between and using literal and figurative language
and verbal and non-verbal cues; use phrase, clauses, and sentences

CONTENT STANDARD
The learner demonstrates understanding of contemporary Philippine
literature as a means of responding to the demands of the global village;
various extended text types; lexical and contextual clues; appropriate and
polite oral language, stance, and behavior; and use of imperatives,
prepositions, verbs, and wh-questions.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learner transfers learning by: explaining the need to be cooperative and
responsible in today’s global village; using appropriate strategies to
comprehend extended text type; using lexical and contextual clues to
understand unfamiliar words and expressions; using imperatives,
prepositions, and appropriate and polite oral language, stance and behavior
in various information-sharing formats.
