GLOBAL WARMING

ANABELA PEREIRA, Nº3

WHAT IT IS?

Earth is warming up, and humans are partially to blame. The causes, effects, and complexities of global warming
are important to understand so that we can fight for the health of our planet.
Global warming is the long-term warming of the planet’s overall temperature.
WHERE AND WHY IT IS HAPPENING?

The earth's largest land masses and its north and south poles are warming the fastest, mainly because of differences in
how these areas reflect energy from the sun.
The greenhouse effect is when the sun’s rays penetrate the atmosphere, but when that heat is reflected off the surface
cannot escape back into space.
THE PROBLEM IT CAUSES

Generating electricity and heat by burning fossil fuels causes a large chunk of global emissions. Most electricity is
still generated by burning coal, oil, or gas, which produces carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide.
THE STEPS

Everyone can help limit climate change. From the way we travel,
to the electricity we use, the food we eat, and the things we buy, we can make a difference.
1. Save energy at home;
2. Walk, bike, or take public transport;
3. Eat more vegetables;
4. Reduce, reuse, repair & recycle;
5. Make your money count;
