Issues around us
1. Issues around us – Drought ( かんば
つ)
• 都市にすんでいる人々は、かんばつに関心(かんしん)がない。か
んばつは田舎の問題で、自分には関係がないと思っている。
• People living in cities are not concerned about drought. They think that
drought is a country problem and it has nothing to do with them.
How will the drought affect us?

• Restricted water supplies


• Domestic food price increase
• Loss of dependent industries
• Increasing number of unemployment
• Mental health of farmers – increased suicide rate
• Social erosion
What can we do to help?

• Save water ( 4 minutes shower)


• Install a tank to reduce outdoor water use
• Use a bucket to wash your cars and pets on grass
• Donate funds for farmers
• Spread the world around your communities
• School education
• Government policy and politician

• Question: すべてをうしなった人々をたすけよう。
How can we support people who has lost everything?
• Research 2011 Tsunami and earthquakes and report in Japanese.
• You can find many articles in Japanese.
Bush fires
• Due to the bushfires occurred from last year to this year, vast areas in NSW and
other states have been burnt down. The victims are people who have lost
everything and the dehydrated and frightened wildlife. We also must consider
what we can do for the volunteers who worked with a sense of duty to protect the
land.
• Many people wanted to volunteer, but the Rural Fire Service and other relevant
organisations did not have enough staff and equipment. (eg. Fire protection helmet
and clothing)to handle these people.
• Question: What have we learned from this? What would be a good solution?
Corona virus
• Research and report about corona virus
• Question: What happened? What have we learned from this? What would

Greta Thunberg
• Greta Thunberg is the winner of the Kids Rights Children Peace Prize 2019.
• Since 8 years old, she took the climate change issue seriously and sat alone in
front of Sweden’s parliament with a home-made banner.
• Her claim is the government is not doing enough to protect children’s future.
• She has mobilized over seven million children across the world to strike, like
her, for climate justice.
• Research and present about Greta Thunberg
• よい事をするためには、学校を休んででもするべきだ。
• To do good, you should be absent from school.
• 自分がえらんで行こう事は、自分の価値だ。
• It is your responsibility to do what you choose.
• 自分の人生は自分できめるべきだ。
• You should decide for yourself how you want to live.

• Life will not shine unless you try to experience things. You will lean a lot
from the experience. It is meaningless if you don’t reflect on what you’ve
experienced.
• Why do you want to try it?
• If you try it, what benefit will you gain?
• What is a good experience?
• 過去の自分は変えられないが、未来の自分は変えられる。
• You can’t change your past self, but you can change your future self.
• いやな記憶は忘れる方がいい。
• It is better to forget bad memories.
• 田舎の生活は都会よりゆかただ。
• Country life is richer than city life.

地球市民
• What is a global citizen?
• Global citizen is someone who is aware of and understands the wider
world.- and their place in it. They take an active role in their community,
and work with others to make our planet more equal, fair and sustainable.
• A person who can think about things from the other person’s perspective
and can become who is needed in many situation.
• A person who can handle things flexibly without thinking that is should be
or should do this. con
• A person who can demonstrate the above skills and play an active part in
their own country with or without contacting foreign countries.
• A person who aim of language education in school.
• A person acquire intercultural capabilities
• 色々な文化を知ることは、成長につながる。
• Knowing various culture leads to growth.
• 偏見や差別は子供にはない。それは、大人が作ったことだ。
• There is no prejudice or discrimination in children. It is made by adult.
• 移民は、新しい国の文化をうけいれなければいけない。
• Immigrants must adapt to the culture of the new country.
• 外国のことより、自国のことうぃよく知るべきだ。
• You should know your country better than foreign countries.

• 近年では、エンターテイメントのようそがある伝統だけがのこり
つつ”けているようだ。
• In recent years, only traditions with an entertainment element seem to
remain.
• 昔の価値観を現代の若者におしつけても意味がない。
• There is no point in imposing old value on young people.

• どんな年代の人でもコミュニケーションできる能力を持った若者は
成功する。
• Young people with the ability to communicate with people of all ages
succeed.
• 近くにいても、遠くにいても、ひんぱんなコミュニケーションがき
つ“なを強める。
• Frequent communication, whether near or far, will strengthen connection.
9. Issues around us - olympic
• The Olympic Spirit is ‘to build a peaceful and better world in the Olympic
Spirit which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship,
solidarity and fair play.
• “The most important thing in the Olympic games is not winning but
taking part, the essential things in life is not conquering but fighting well.
The important thing in life is not to triumph but to compete”
• Question: This message is displayed on the scoreboard of all Olympic
Games. DO you agree?
In the Olympic time
• 人々はパラリンピックをもっとおうえんするべきだ。
• People should support the Paralympic Games more.

• きょうぎ場はゴミ箱ではない。
• The stadium is not a trash bin.
