BIOGRAPHY TEXT
Biography text is told someone or
whole parts of detailed
information a bout a figure’s life.
3 Kinds of Biography
1. Short biography
This covers concise and important information such
as the figure’s family, educational background,
achievement and the figure’s contribution for people.

2. Long biography
This covers more detailed information on the figure’s
life such as the figures experiences in many events.

3. Autobiography
Biography written by the figure themselves.
The Generic Structure of biography text
Orientation
This is the beginning paragraph, conducting
introduction/background information such as the figure’s
name, place and date of birth, etc.

Events
Event should be organized in chronological order. It contains
the figure’s experience of certains events and how they
handled it.

Re-orientation
This content conclusion, writer’s comments or the figure’s
end, achievement/contribution to people
Language Feature of biography text
Past tenses
Using past tenses since the activities mentioned in the
biography happened in the past. Example:
- “He studied at SMKN 1 Jakarta”
- “He had finished his bachelor’s degree before he reached 22
years old”

Temporal conjunction
To connect one sentence to another in time relation.
Example:
“He went to Surabaya when he was 7 years old”
