Response and explanatory variables
• Bivariant data looks at relationships between two variables
• Eg. Hours studied and the mark on a test

The explanatory variable is the valuable that will explain or predict the
responsive variable.

EV is also called the independent variable


DV is also called the dependent variable

survey.
• The explanatory variable goes on the horizontal axis
• The response variable goes on the vertical axis
