EXTERNAL

HARDWARES
are those items that are often
externally connected to the
computer to control either input
or output functions.
EXAMPLES OF
EXTERNAL
HARDWARES
TYPES OF MONITOR
1. Cathode Ray Tube (CRT)
2. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)
3. Quantum Dot LED (QLED)
4. Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED)
5. Light Emitting Diode (LED)
1. Cathode Ray Tube (CRT)
By comparison, old school
CRT monitors seem boring
and bulky. Fading fast
from the marketplace,
CRT (Cathode Ray Tube
monitors resemble small
(but expensive) TV sets.
2. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)
LCD monitors look slim and
hip on any desktop. The
most popular monitor
today, LCD (Liquid Display)
monitors look much like
large laptop screens
mounted on a stand.
3. Organic Light Emitting Diode
(OLED)
A display
technology that
uses quantum
dots to emit
light.
4. Quantum Dot LED (QLED)
A display technology that
uses quantum dots to
emit light. QLED is
expected to be more
power efficient than
OLED and less costly to
manufacture.
5. LED (light emitting diode)
An LED display is a
flat panel display,
which uses an array
of light- emitting
diodes as a video
display.

KEYBOARD

Keyboard is input device and

the main way to enter
information into your computer.
Division of Keys Functions
• Typing Keys
• Control Keys
• Function Keys
• Navigation Keys
• Numeric Keypad
Typing Keys (Alphanumeric Keys)

These keys include the same letter,

number, punctuation, and symbol
keys found on a traditional typewriter.
Control Keys

These keys are used alone or in combination

with other keys to perform certain actions.
The most frequently used control keys are
Ctrl, Alt, the Windows logo key, and Esc.
Function Keys

The function keys are used to perform

specific tasks. They are labeled as F1, F2,
F3, and so on, up to F12.
Navigation Keys

These keys are used for moving around in

documents or webpages and editing text.
They include the arrow keys, Home, End,
Page Up, Page Down, Delete, and Insert.
Numeric Keypad

The numeric keypad is handy for entering

numbers quickly. The keys are grouped
together in a block like a conventional
calculator or adding machine.
Other External Hardwares
• Mouse - is a hand-held pointing
device that detects two-dimensional
motion relative to a surface.

• Speakers - these are used to

play sound.
Other External Hardwares
• Modem - To connect your computer
to the Internet, you need a modem.

• Printer - is a piece of hardware for a

computer. It allows a user to print
items on paper, such as letters and
pictures.
Kinds of Printer
• Ink Jet Printer - is a type of computer
printing that recreates a digital image by
propelling droplets of ink onto paper and
plastic substrates.
• Laser Printer - A laser printer is a popular
type of computer printer that uses a non-impact
photocopier technology where there are no keys
striking the paper.
Kinds of Printer
• Dot Matrix Printer – this printer typically
use a print head that moves back and forth
or in an up-and-down motion on the page
and prints by impact, striking an ink-soaked
cloth ribbon against the paper, much like the
print mechanism on a typewriter or line
printer.
