RECREATION
Recreation is an activity of leisure, leisure being
discretionary time. The "need to do something for
recreation" is an essential element of human
biology and psychology. Recreational activities are
often done for enjoyment, amusement, or pleasure
and are considered to be "fun".
 ETYMOLOGI

The term recreation appears to have been used in English first in the late 14th century, first in the sense of
"refreshment or curing of a sick person", and derived turn from Latin (re: "again", creare: "to create, bring
forth, beget").

Istilah rekreasi tampaknya telah digunakan dalam bahasa Inggris pertama kali pada akhir abad ke-14,
pertama dalam arti "penyegaran atau penyembuhan orang sakit", dan diturunkan dari bahasa Latin (re:

 FORMS AND ACTIVITIES

Recreation is an essential part of human life and finds many

different forms which are shaped naturally by individual
interests but also by the surrounding social construction.
Recreational activities can be communal or solitary, active or
passive, outdoors or indoors, healthy or harmful, and useful
for society or detrimental. Some recreational activities – such
as gambling, recreational drug use, or delinquent activities –
may violate societal norms and laws. A list of typical
activities could be almost endless
There are various recreations that can be done to fill spare time or do recreation. In
general, there are several types of recreation, such as tourism (visiting tourist
objects), sports (aerobic gymnastics), games (outbound), and hobbies (fishing). In
addition there are several factors that affect the occurrence of a recreation. According
to Bovy and Lawason (1997) there are six factors that influence the occurrence of
recreation, namely:
1. Socio-economic factors
2. Gender, age and family factors
3. The factor of availability of free time
4. The free time for organizing recreation for housewives will be different from
that of working women
5. Institutional factors, namely factors related to achievement, the amount of funds
owned, changes in attitudes towards recreation.
Every activity carried out always has a purpose, including recreation. The purpose of
the existence of recreation, namely creating and fostering human relationships;
maintain natural sustainability; maintain cultural values; pleasure and satisfaction
because it can fulfill the taste; restore physical and mental health.
