CONTEXT
Context is an aspect that related to pshycal environment and social uttreance.
The surrounding information and factors that influence the interpretation and understanding of a
communication act.
Dynamic context & context convensional
Dynamic context refers to the evolving and changing circumstances or information that affects the
interpretation and understanding of a communication.
Excample:”

context convention :refers to the shared knowledge, assumptions, and cultural or social norms that play a
role in communication.
Excample:
• Don’t go around the bush
• Peace of cake
implicatations & implicature
Implications is like a suggestion, an idea expressed with indirect words or unspoken meaning your
audience can detect.
e.g:
I have a doctor an appointment tomorrow

Implicature is something that a speaker does, not something that a sentence does.
E.g :
I saw john eating ice cream cone.
Conversational & conventional implicature
Conversational implicature are the assumptions suggested by the speaker and inffered by the hearer in
an exchange situation.
e.g:
Students A :Do you like linguistics?
Students B: Well, lets just say I don’t jump for joy before the class.

Conventional Implicature is part of the meaning of word or construction but not part of its truth
conditions.
e.g:
Joe is poor but happy
