In order to transform the question into
an indirect question, it is important to
pay attention to the different rules.

First rule
To change an interrogative sentence that starts with auxiliary verbs like
DO,DOES, DID, WILL, HAVE-HAS, HAD, you must use “IF” clauses before
the subject.

Example:
The boy asked, “Will you go to the concert?”

The boy asked If I would go to the concert.

Second rule
If the interrogative sentence starts with question words like Why, How,
Where, What, following by verb to be, the verb will go after the subject.

Example:

Margot asked, “Where is the library?”

Margot asked where the library was.

Third rule
If the interrogative sentence starts with question words like Why, How,
Where, When, Which, What, following by auxiliary verbs like Do, Does,
Did, Will, Have-Has, Had, you must remove the auxiliary verb using the
rules learned before.
Example:
Peter asked, “Where do you go?”

Peter asked Where I went.
