Based on its astronomical location, Brazil is
located between 35° West-74° West and
between 6° N-35° South Latitude.

Landscape
The natural appearance of most of Brazil is in the form of
plateaus and river valleys. This region stretches from the
Equator to the southern horizon.

Most of Brazil is the hot Amazon Basin. The Amazon Valley


is a vast expanse of forest and water. This area is the most
sparsely populated area.

a. Lowland
The northeastern area is a plateau area surrounded by
narrow coastal lowlands. This area is a hot area and
droughts often occur.

b. PlateauThe
central plateau is the center of residential areas,
agricultural, industrial and trade areas. In this area are the
cities of Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
Climate of Brazil
Based on its astronomical
location, most of Brazil has a tropical
climate and only a small part has a sub-
tropical climate. The hottest air
temperature of 37.5oC occurred in the
northeastern region of Brazil.

To the south, the hottest temperature


reaches around 29oC. The highest rainfall
reached 4,500 mm in the southern city of
Sao Paulo. Summer occurs from November
to May, while winter occurs from May to
September. The average rainfall is 2,000
mm annually.

The population of Brazil is 184,101,110 people.
The population growth rate is 2.3% every year,
while the average population density is 22
people/km2.

Brazil’s population consists of Portuguese


(60%), Mestizo (26%), African (9%), and others
(2%). Most of Brazil’s population lives in rural
areas with unsatisfactory income levels. Poverty
and shortage of seeds are still experienced by
the Brazilian population, especially those who
live in the southeastern interior.

The religion practiced by the majority of the


Brazilian population is Catholic (90%), while
other religions are Protestant, Jewish, Buddhist,
and others. The unofficial language used is
Portuguese (official) while other languages are
English, German and Italian.
Brazil’s economy
Brazil’s per capita income is US$ 2,590. This
income is supported by several sectors, including
the following.

1) Agriculture

Brazil’s agricultural products are one of the


main backbones of its economy. Approximately
45% of the total export commodities come from
agricultural sector products.

The increase in this sector is due to the Brazilian


government’s policy to increase its agricultural
land. Agricultural products include, among others

in the form of coffee (which is the largest crop),


rice, cotton, cocoa, tobacco, soybeans, corn and
sugar cane.

2) Livestock

The types of livestock that are cultivated and


developed are pigs, goats, sheep and cattle. The
results are meat, milk, skin and wool. The central
area of ​livestock is in Cuyaba.

3) Fisheries

Fishing activities in Brazil are located along the


Atlantic coast and the Amazon rivers. The types of
fish produced include shrimp, croaken, sardines
and lobster.

4) Mining

Mining products include iron ore (large yields),


coal, silver, gold, diamonds, lead, phosphate and
bauxite.

The industrial sector in Brazil is developing rapidly and has a role in increasing the country’s
foreign exchange. Two-thirds of the industrial area is in the Belo Horizonte, Sao Paulo and
Rio De Jeneiro areas. The following are the types of industry and their regions:

The textile industry is found in Sao Paulo.


The steel industry is located on the banks of the Paraiba river
The petrochemical industry is found in Sao Paulo, Bahia and Rio Do Sul.
The aircraft industry is located at Embaraer Tucano.
Foodstuffs and processing industries and the cement industry are found in Porto Alegre
and Recife.
The chemical, glass and kerosene industries are found in Rio De Jeneiro

6) Trading

Exports: Coffee, tobacco, rubber, cotton, sugar, chocolate, steel, bauxite, textiles, chemicals
and steel.
Imports: Coal, petroleum, transportation equipment and synthetic rubber materials.

Indonesia

1) Diplomatic Field

Each country places an ambassador as its representative.

2) Education and Culture Sector

Indonesia often brings in football coaches from Brazil.

3) Trade Sector

Imports from Indonesia include copper ore, clothing, cooking oil,


natural rubber and aluminum.
