Basic Equipment
Chiller, Freezer or Refrigerator
It is a well-constructed and well insulated FREEZING
compartment used to store food and UNIT
drinks to extend its shelf life by keeping it
cool. The coldest part of the refrigerator or
the freezing unit is used for storing
perishable foods such as meat, fish, and
poultry. Milk, cream butter, and eggs
should be kept near the freezing unit.
Other foods should be kept in the center
of the refrigerator. Fruits and vegetables
are usually kept in the crisper, the lowest
part of the refrigerator.

The range or stove
provides the necessary
heat in cooking food. An
oven is for baking and
roasting, and a broiler. On
a gas range, the source of
heat is the “burner”. On
an electric ranger, it is the
“unit or a coil”
