Other Indian officials have also expressed dismay at the ongoing delays but they have stated that they are confident that India will successfully host the games and do so on time.

The preparation for the Commonwealth Games delays over several venues at Delhi due to security concerns. The Commonwealth Games is to be held at the Capital of the country in the month of October this year. BUDGET
Initially in the year 2006,The Union Cabinet of India has approved the common wealth games budget proposal for Rs 767 crore. But in nov 2009,the proposal was revised to Rs 1620 crore by the ministry of youth affairs and sports and the same was approved by the Union Cabinet. Now it is revealed that the total expenditure of common wealth games will be more than 2000 crore i.e. 300% of the original proposal.

The factors that have contributed to increase in the amounts proposed in the revised estimates were :
Inclusion of new items that are essential for the successful delivery of the Games but were not provided in the initial budget of the organizing committee (OC), namely City Operations; Sponsorship and T.V. Rights; Security ; and Ticketing. Change in the scope of the work and cost escalation in respect of Accommodation; Catering, Opening & Closing Ceremonies, Rent for Office of OC. The number of Volunteers has gone up to nearly 30,000 and hence the cost of accreditation, catering, uniform, etc., on this account has increased.
