GREEN BUILDINGS AND SUSTAINABILITY PROVISIONS

Modern buildings consume about 25 to 30 % of total energy, and up to 30 % of fresh potable water, and generate
approximately 40 % of total waste.

Certification body

• IGBC guidelines by the Confederation of Indian

Industries.
• GRIHA guidelines by the Ministry of New and
Renewable Energy.
• ECBC guidelines prepared by Bureau of Energy

RAIN WATER HARVESTING TECHNIQUES AND PROVISIONS

• Rainwater collection strategies needed in crowded, heavily paved metropolitan areas.

• Rainwater recharged through pipes, underground wells, and abandoned wells.
• Up to 55,000 liters of rainwater per 100 square feet may be collected.
• It is mandatory for buildings with a plot size of 100 sq.m. or more to include rainwater harvesting in their
plans.

There are two main techniques of rain water harvestings :- Storage of rainwater on surface for future use ,
Recharge to ground water.
