WHAT IS
STD?

DEFINITION

SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES

(STDs)
Also known as Sexually
Transmitted Infections (STIs) or
Venereal Disease (VD). These
are infections that are spread
from person to another person
through intimate sexual contact.

< >
DANGERS OF
ALCOHOL AND
DRUG ABUSE:

< >
ALCOHOL ABUSE

Over time, excessive alcohol use can lead to

the development of chronic diseases and
other serious problems including:
• High blood pressure
• Heart disease
• Stroke
• Liver disease and digestive problems.
• Cancer of the breast, mouth, throat,
esophagus, voice box, liver, colon, and
rectum.
DRUG ABUSE
Depending on the actual compound, drug
abuse including alcohol may lead to:
• Health problems
• Social problems
• Morbidity
• Injuries
• Unprotected sex
• Violence
• Deaths
• Suicides
• Crimes
• Physical dependence
ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE

Heavy drinkers and drug addicts are also more

likely to have multiple partners, increasing the risk
for HIV transmission and STDs. Finally, alcohol
and illegal drugs can also impair an individual's
immune system, making it harder to fight off an
STD.

TYPES OF STDs:

< >
TYPES OF STD:

1 VIRAL
Are spread by bodily fluid exchange and
skin-to-skin contact.
Examples:
● HPV
● Genital herpes
● Genital warps
● HIV/AIDS
● Hepatitis
TYPES OF STD:

2 BACTERIAL
Are spread by direct contact to the infected
area.

Examples:
● Gonorrhea
● Syphilis
● Chlamydia
TYPES OF STD:

3 PARASITIC
Are spread through sexual intercourse or
close genital contact.

Examples:
● Trichonomiasis
DANGERS AND
CONSEQUENCES
OF STDs:

< >
Sexually Transmitted Diseases have a profound
impact on health. If untreated, they can lead to
serious dangers and consequences.

< >
• In the short term, STDs may cause pain,
discomfort, and embarrassment.
• In the long term, STDs may include a risk of
certain cancers.
DANGERS
• Increased risk of infertility in both men and
AND CONSE-
women. Infertility is the condition of being
QUENCES
unable to have children.
• In some cases, STDs are incurable.
• STDs can possibly passed from an infected
mother to her child before, during, or after birth.

< >
DANGERS AND CONSEQUENCES

STDs don’t only affect the genital and

urinary tracts, but also the skin, mucous
membranes, blood, lymph, digestive
system, and many other organs.

STDs are dangerous since they are

easily spread and most of the time
asymptomatic (no symptoms are felt
or seen).

< >
TIPS TO PREVENT
OR AVOID STDs:

< >
T 1. Limit partners.
2. Get tested with your partner before and after
I having sexual contact with each other.
3. Communicate with your partner.
P 4. Avoid using drugs or alcohol.
S 5. Educate yourself.

< >
Always put in mind that every action we make has its own consequences that is why it is important to
think multiple time before making decisions.
