    Qazi Muhammad was a Kurdish nationalist and religious leader who served as the president of the short-lived Republic of Mahabad in western Iran between 1946-1947. As the founder of the Kurdish Democratic Party of Iran, he helped organize the Kurdish national movement that sought autonomy for Kurds in Iran. However, the central Iranian government crushed the movement and Muhammad was sentenced to death and hanged in 1947.
