BUST OPERATION
Overview of the Case
• On February 3, 2021, A drug bust in Paranaque City, along Quirino Avenue in Barangay San
Dionisio were conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
• The said operation was conducted inside a car of a supposed PDEA agent.
• Two of the suspect entered the car and handed over a plastic bag with suspected drugs in
it.
• The dash cam captured the agent putting a sachet of suspected drugs in a weighing scale.
• The agents now handed over the marked money, then after one of the suspects received
it, they advised the two suspects to refrain from going outside their car, declaring they are
PDEA agents.
Is the operation successful?
Procedures that the PDEA agents
followed.
• They strategically positioned back-up elements in the area in case the suspects
gets suspicious and escape.
• They ensured that the suspect delivered the dangerous drugs or accepted the
money before giving the pre-arranged signal for the arrest.
• They introduced themselves as police officers to the suspects.
• They informed the arrested suspect/s of their CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS in a
language they understand.
• After the arrest had been made, they searched the suspects for the recovery of the
buy-bust money and/or deadly weapon.
• They seized and took initial custody of the dangerous drugs.
