Why abortion should be

criminalized in Canada?
Nick Fleming – Tristan Gumiran
Introduction – What is abortion?
Today we stand before you to debate if abortion should be criminalized in
Canada. My name is Nicolas Fleming, and my partner is Tristan Gumiran
stand before you to present a case against abortion.
Abortion is ending a pregnancy by removal of an embryo or fetus killing the
unborn child.
Brief The main problem here with abortion is that
many people are conflicted if killing an unborn
description child or a 5-month-old child should be legal
even if that child has yet to be born and still has

of issue a heart, still breaths.

Factors that influence the law
Science and technology help us learn more about how babies grow and
develop. This knowledge can affect people's opinions on whenever abortion
should be legal or illegal.
What we intend to prove and our
argument proof
We intend to prove that abortion is wrong and under any circumstances that
killing an unborn child is wrong.
The main argument is that even if the child is unborn, it's still ethically
wrong to end the child around 5-6 weeks old, the baby is already having a
heartbeat.
Abortion is ethically wrong as killing a child even if its unborn, is related to
killing a living thing still.
Main argument and evidence

S7 Life Liberty + Security of Person -> Conception -> Life

Evidence: Closed adoption, that once the child has been intended over to the adoption family, there's no
contact with that family. -> Allows closure for birth mother without death of fetus -> Mental health.

Evidence: Adoption allows for your child to have a better chance since you might not have been able to
provide the child's needs to thrive in society.

Evidence: Option adoption, You can give the child to an extended family for them to raise and still have
contact.
Opponents' argument expectation: Unable to
provide the child what they have to survive or
make good efforts in the world.
Arguments Rebuttal: Every child or living thing deserves
and to not live a bad life or get killed. You're
always able to give someone else your child if
Rebuttals you don't want it, and if they're unable or
afraid to have their own baby.
Factors that influence these laws
Changing Demographics: Criminalizing abortion could have an impact on
changing demographics in Canada by potentially affecting the number of
births and population growth.
Societal Values: Criminalizing abortion could potentially impact societal
values in Canada by sparking debates and discussions about reproductive
rights and personal autonomy.
