Theme:
called to be vigilant!
Opening Prayer:
Lord, as we gather in
your name, we want to
be in your presence.
Grant us a spirit of
dialogue,
illumine our minds with
the light of truth and
strengthen our
fraternal spirit that we
may always seek and
do your will.
Grant us also the grace
of openness that we
may accept and
respond to your
invitation with
generosity in our
hearts. Amen.
Gospel:
Matthew
25: 1- 13
Jesus told his disciples this
parable: “The kingdom of
heaven will be like ten virgins
who took their lamps and went
out to meet the bridegroom.
Five of them were foolish and
five were wise. The foolish
ones, when taking their lamps,
brought no oil with them,
but the wise brought flasks of oil
with their lamps. Since the
bridegroom was long delayed, they
all became drowsy and fell asleep. At
midnight, there was a cry, ‘Behold,
the bridegroom! Come out to meet
him!’ Then all those virgins got up
and trimmed their lamps. The
foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us
some of your oil, for our lamps are
going out.’ But the wise ones
replied, ‘ No, for there may not be
enough for us and you. Go instead
to the merchants and buy some of
yourselves.’ While they went off
to buy it, the bridegroom came
and those who were ready went
into the wedding feast with him.
Then the door was locked.
Afterwards the other virgins
came and said. ‘Lord, Lord,
open the door for us!’ But he
said in reply. ‘Amen I say to
you, I do not know you.’
Therefore, stay awake, for you
know neither the day nor the
hour.

REFLECTION
Reflection
Wisdom allows us to recognize
God’s plan and discern God’s
presence. To be wise by the world’s
standards is to have knowledge and
show good judgment. To be wise by
God’s standards is to know God’s will
and act accordingly. That is how we
prepare for the arrival of the
Bridegroom, Jesus Christ.
Reflection
The gift of wisdom helps us to conform our
lives to God’s will, so that we can be with
the Lord forever. All of our earthly life is
preparation for the world to come. We do
not know how long our earthly lives will be
or the day on which they will end. Yet we
do not grieve the end of this life because
we know that Jesus has prepared a place
for us that is beyond our ability to imagine,
where we will see God face to face.
Questions for Sharing:
1.To what extent are you prepared to
meet the Bridegroom? How are you
preparing for that encounter?
2.As a Paulinian student, inspired by
this Gospel, in what ways can you
enhance your being a mindful, self-
directed and role model member of the
Paulinian family?
