ZACCHAEUS’

ENCOUNTER WITH

JESUS
A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus;
he was a chief tax collector and was
wealthy.
“He tried to see who Jesus was, but
Zacchaeus was a small (short) man, and
he couldn’t see Jesus…”

Luke 19:2-3 NIV


ZACCHAEUS BACKGROUND
A. He was a chief tax collector (like BIR
Regional Director)
1. Hated by the people because of
greediness
2. Outcast in the Jewish community
ZACCHAEUS BACKGROUND
B. He was very wealthy
1. His wealth could not give him:
a) Satisfaction
b) Contentment
2. Therefore, NO AMOUNT of influence, wealth, position
or possession could fill the emptiness of your heart.

C. He wanted to see JESUS!


But there are major obstacles/hindrances before
he encountered JESUS
What are the major Obstacles?

Jesus entered Jericho and was


passing through.

A. JERICHO – “walls”- a high well fortified
These are walls of:
Resistance Materialism
Doubt/Unbelief Insecurities
Unforgiveness Pride
Bitterness Others?
Idolatry

Today, GOD will destroy all these walls in your


life. If you are willing?

2. TODAY, if you will surrender your favorite sins
in your life, it will be destroyed and
consumed by the power of GOD

Pleasing people is one of the major obstacles in


encountering God.

We were called to please God and not people.


You cannot please everyone!

TODAY, STOP pleasing men.


Instead, begin to PLEASE GOD by allowing him
to remove the crowd in your life.

“He ran ahead and climbed a sycamore
fig tree to see Him…” Luke 19:4
“Zacchaeus came down and was glad to
welcome Jesus into his home.” Luke 19:6
“Blessed are those who
hunger and thirst after
righteousness, for they shall
be filled.”

Results When You Encounter God
A. You will be filled with joy. Overflowing
joy, that you’ve never experienced
before.
“Zacchaeus came down and was glad to
welcome Jesus into his home.” Luke 19:6

B. You don’t care what people say, what
really matter is your commitment to
please God. Luke 19:7

C. A Life of Restitution- Transformation!

Generosity is a lifestyle of a transformed


life! You will be experiencing an
abundant life!
