PROPOSED METHODOLOGY
Micro-controllers IOT

A wireless sensor field is created with each sensor node inter-connected by WiFi module to
a common cloud server. With the help of each sensor node the condition of soil is retrieved.

An automated script in Arduino keeps retrieving data from the sensors as well as get
weather data from APIs and accordingly the field is irrigated.

Also for irrigating based on soil type and crop-specification, a machine learning
algorithm(Support Vector Machine) is used to determine the conditions for specific soil and
crop type after training the algorithm manually.

The data obtained from the trained algorithm is then processed and compared with the
sensor readings and the desired crop for the given soil type(soil nutrition and type using
NPK soil nutrition sensor) is uploaded to the cloud storage and is viewed via an app or
using web application.

JUSTIFICATION FOR SDG

Goal 2 - Zero Hunger

• Ensures nutritious food by better management of the land.

• Increases the rural investment on improved management systems.
• Agricultural biodiversity is maintained

Goal 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production

• Support to move towards more sustainable patterns of production in agricultural

field
• The soil incompetency is measured beforehand and wastage of resources is
controlled

CONCLUSION

By the proposed methodology, we aim to combine all the

previously implemented ideas into a planned system to
improve the crop selection for various type of soils and thereby
reducing the problems raised at the time of irrigation of field.
