INPUT AND OUTPUT DEVICES


BASICS OF
COMPUTER
A computer is a machine or device that performs processes, calculations and
operations based on instructions provided by a software or hardware program. It
has the ability to accept data (input), process it, and then produce outputs.
INPUT DEVICES
•A mouse is a small handheld input device that controls a computer
screen's cursor or pointer in conjunction with the way it is moved on a
flat surface. The mouse term name originates from its likeness to a
small, corded and elliptical shaped device that looks like a mouse tail.
KEYBOARD
•The keyboard is a basic input device that
is used to enter data into a computer or any
other electronic device by pressing keys. It
has different sets of keys for letters,
numbers, characters, and functions.
Keyboards are connected to a computer
through USB or a Bluetooth device for
wireless communication.
MOUSE
•A mouse is a small handheld input device
that controls a computer screen's cursor or

OUTPUT
DEVICES
•An output device is a piece of computer
equipment that receives data from one
source and converts it into another form.
Depending on their function, output devices
can transform data into various other forms
such as audio, visual or physical copy.
PRINTER
•An output device is a piece of computer
equipment that receives data from one
source and converts it into another form.
Depending on their function, output devices
can transform data into various other forms
such as audio, visual or physical copy.
MONITOR
•Monitor is an output device which is used
for producing soft-copy output. It is also
known as VDU i.e. Visual Display Unit. It
forms images from tiny dots, called pixels
that are arranged in a rectangular form. LCD
contains liquid crystals in between two
plates of the screen.
PLOTTER
•Plotter • Plotters are used to print graphical output on
paper. It interprets computer commands and makes line
drawings on paper using multicolored automated pens.
It is capable of producing graphs, drawings, charts,
maps etc.
