Earth’s Internal Structure

Major Divisions
Crust- the outermost layer, divided into two parts, viz. the

Continental Crust and Oceanic Crust.

Mantle- the intermediate layer, divided into two parts, e.g.

Upper Mantle and Lower mantle.

Core- the inner-most layer, again divided into two layers, i.e.

Outer Core and Inner Core.

Conrad Discontinuity- between continental crust and

oceanic crust.

Mohorovicic Discontinuity- between crust and mantle.

Gutenberg Discontinuity- between mantle and outer core.

Lehmann Discontinuity- between outer core and inner

core.
