Tiểu sử của
Robert Owen
 - sinh trưởng ở Newtown vùng Mongomery, nước Anh, trong
một gia đình có cha mẹ là những thợ mộc đóng khung dệt
bình thường

- Cuộc đời của Robert Owen trải qua các thời kỳ của cuộc
cách mạng công nghiệp ở nước Anh.

- Khi học hết tiểu học và học dở dang trung học, Owen tham
gia vào việc kinh doanh vải. Năm 19 tuổi, ông trở thành chủ
xưởng dệt ở Manchester. Năm 28 tuổi, Owen quản lý nhà
máy dệt New Lanak (Scotland)

- Trong thời gian quản lý nhà máy (1797 - 1824), Robert

(1771 - 1858)
-> Ông có những suy nghĩ sâu sắc về xã hội tư bản và nhưng
dự định cải tạo xã hội đó. Ông chuyển dần từ chủ nghĩa từ
thiện sang chủ nghĩa xã hội không tưởng.

pháp đó bằng cái gì”. Chính quan
niệm này là một trong những nguyên
nhân làm cho học thuyết của Owen ít
có ảnh hưởng tới công nhân.
Chủ trương xây dựng xã hội mới bằng con đường không tưởng như: tuyên truyền,
giác ngộ, mong chờ những người lương thiện trong số những nhà tư bản giúp đỡ,
hoặc là xây dựng những xí nghiệp làm gương cho mọi người.
