RESEARCH TITLE
Problems Encountered by the Senior
High School Students and their Coping
Mechanism in Practical Research 2
CURRENT SITUATION
Students of Grade 12 Senior High School are
struggling when it comes to their subject in
Practical Research 2. Most students are having
some trouble in understanding the concept of
Quantitative Research since majority of them do
not acquire enough knowledge and experience
within this field.
RESEARCH GAP’S
Despite the growing emphasis on Practical Research 2 in Senior High School education,
most students are having difficulties and still lack of understanding in this subject. The
researchers need to find what are the problems they encountered and their coping
mechanism..

According to Diana Habungan (2019) students are aware not only of the practicality but
also of the difficulty of conducting research. Students encountered challenges in writing
each chapter of a research paper, specifically in providing good research problem or
questions and writing questionnaire. The lack of skills in performing appropriate
statistical treatment of data is also one of the challenges they faced when conducting
research.

DESCRIPTIVE RESEARCH
RESEARCH QUESTIONS:
1. What are the problems encountered by the Senior High School
Students in Practical Research 2?

2. What are the Coping Mechanism of Senior High School

Students to lessen the problems they encountered in Practical
Research 2?

3. What is the possible program/intervention to lessen the

problems encountered by the students and boost their coping
mechanism?

INTRODUCTION
Research is described as a methodical, exploratory process used to broaden or update
existing knowledge by identifying new facts. It plays a crucial role in the educational
journey of senior high school students. Despite of emphasizing research in Senior High
School curriculum, many students face numerous challenges and difficulties during their
academic journey, which can negatively impact their educational performance and overall
well-being. These problems can arise from factors such as limited resources, time
constraints, lack of guidance, and difficulty in understanding complex concepts.
Understanding and addressing these issues is crucial for the successful completion of
practical research projects. Some of the most common issues that senior high school
students encounter include academic pressure, peer pressure, stress, anxiety, depression,
and lack of self-esteem. These problems cannot only affect their academic performance
but also their mental and emotional health.
INTRODUCTION
Glazarie Coloma (2019) study claimed that while making the research they have encountered the
following difficulties;1) construction of research title, 2) stress management and cooperation of
research partners, and 3) construction of interpretations, analysis, findings, conclusions, and
recommendations while only a few encountered conflicting interpretations between the student-
researcher and teacher-adviser. Learners often complain about the mentioned difficulties and
especially on the effects of conducting research towards their mental, physical and financial aspect.

Jane Marie Leonares (2019)The study has found out the following challenges that research students
encountered: 1) lack of basic research background from junior High School 2) formulating a topic,3)
Dealing with a research team,4) Insufficiency of resources,5)Data analysis and treatment and 6)
staying motivated in the course of the study. It also revealed that time management played a vital role
in the completion of the study because research subject were offered simultaneously with specialized
and applied subject. These also required term papers and report and were sometimes due for
submission within the same time frame.
INTRODUCTION
According to Arlyn Joy et. al (2020) that students face problems in terms of
financial support in making research and collecting all the data coming from the
questionnaire. The majority of the answers of the students showed that they are
struggling in conducting research. Some students also answered that that research
becomes easy when they can choose a topic that they are describes as interested in.

According to Hidy Perdez et. al (2020) students cannot deny the tiredness they get
from it due to lack of sleep, ideas, and gathered information; hence, they are losing
hope to finish their research. The respondents said that time management and
financial problems are the main difficulties that they encountered while doing
research.
