B. RESPONDING QUESTIONS IN A
PRESENTATION
 4 types of questions in a presentation and how to
handle them:

1. Unplanned question (you don’t know the answer)


 How to handle: (1) Appreciate the question(“thank
you for the question” or “It’s a great question), and
(2) tell them that you may not perfectly answer the
question (you may ask them to email the question
again to have further explanation later).

2. Question related to your future topic
 How to handle: (1) Appreciate the question, and
(2) tell them that you will have further
discussion related to the question in the next
slide (ask them to wait until your next slide)

3. Unrelated question
 How to handle: (1) Appreciate the
question, and (2) tell them to email you the
question because no one has asked about
it.

4. Unfamiliar question (you don’t know
the answer)
 How to handle: (1) Appreciate the
question,and (2) Put that to the room (ask
other participants if they would try to
answer/discuss the question)
