RATIONALE AND BACKGROUND
We all know that in this generation the common problem that faced by
the students is the grammatical errors. According to Muhsin (2016)
Some mistakes and errors occur when the students do not understand
well about the English grammar. If the teacher does not realize about
students’ mistakes and errors, those mistakes and errors may occur
repeatedly because they do not have the correction. In Addition
(Abdulkareem, 2013) found out that the major problem in students
writing is Grammar. Grammar errors occur in the writing of almost all
non-native students. Grammar is a set of rules that dictates how a
language works, making it easy to comprehend. Without proper
grammar, one would have no idea how to speak or write in English. It
helps us make sense of our words.
It also dictates rules regarding how words are used and
when they should be used. Without knowing this
information, it would be impossible for us to understand
anything or say anything at all. And to help the students
to improve their grammar,We the researchers come up in
this study which is timely and relevant in this situation
we will use an interactive game so that the students will
learn while enjoying it.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
1. What are the needs of the learners in terms of their sentence construction
to develop an interactive game?

2. How may an interactive game be designed?

3. How may an interactive game be developed and validated by the experts?

4. How may the interactive game be implemented to improve the grammar of

the learners?

5. How may the interactive game be evaluated to check the improvement of

the learners?
RESEARCH DESIGN
The study will use the developmental methods of research through ADDIE Model. Developmental
research is important in instructional technology because it aimed to investigate how instructional
programs, processes, and products. This are designed, developed, and evaluated (Richey, 1994). It
aimed to analyze, design, develop and evaluate learning resources, processes, and outputs that must
meet the criteria for it to be considered efficient and effective to be a helpful tool in instruction
(Ibrahim, 2016). This instructional design redefined by Ibrahim (2016) is use in this study. The
researchers made use of developmental method with Interactive game as the main instrument. The
researchers will have a set of scrambled sentences serve as an interactive game or can be a motivation.
With the need to improve the grammar of students specifically in sentence construction, this study will
use developmental research, which developed interactive game to improve the grammar.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

The focus of this study is on Improving of the Grammar of the students

through the use of “SENTENCE SCRAMBLE”. This study will follow all the
steps of ADDIE model—Analysis, Designing, Developing, Implementation
and Evaluation. This study will be conducted at Wesleyan University-
Philippines.
RESEARCH LOCALE

The researcher developed an Interactive Game entitled

"Sentence Scramble: An Interactive Game to Improve the
Grammar of Grade 8 students" at Wesleyan University located
at Mabini Extension Street, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS
The researchers will be using observation, survey questionanaire and pre-test
papers and post-test papers as a tool for this research.

• Observation The researchers conduct an observation during English subject of

grade 8 students to know the needs of the students and what strategies will
apply based on the needs of the students.

• Survey Questionnaire The researcher gave a game activity to the students to

determine the observation of the researchers about their grammatical difficulty.

• Assessment paper prepared by the researchers to assess students’ performance

during English subject. A pre-test and post-test papers.
DATA GATHERING PROCEDURES

After the design phase, the researchers developed the interactive

game capturing the five approaches. These components led to the
development of the identified activities and content which were lifted
from the textbook, Revised Edition of English Learning Portals
(Accesing language skills through Afro-Asian Literature)
Analysis Phase

The first phase served as the basis for developing the interactive

game to improve the Grammar of the students. Based on the

observation of the researchers they analyzed the needs of the learners

which is the improvement of grammar. This is based on the responses

of the Grade 8 students at Wesleyan University-Philippines.

Design Phase

After the needs analysis phase, instructional designing was done last

November 10, 2022. The developer selected the sentence scramble as an

interactive game which the students will improve their grammar while enjoying it

they will rearrange the scrambled words into the correct sentence structure the

researchers will examine how they used the ADDIE instructional design

framework to improve the grammar of the students. The developers used the

phases of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation .

Developmental Phase

Using the identified design components of the material, the

developer began the development of the learning material based from the

textbook, Revised Edition of English Learning Portals (Accesing

language skills through Afro-Asian Literature) for second year High

School.
Implementation Stage

During this phase the researchers will deliver the developed game to

the students While learners consume the materials developed in the previous

phases, the researchers must ensure that learners understand the game and

achieve the learning objectives. Most importantly,

the researchers must observe and document students' performance as well as

their attitudes and behaviors towards the learning process.

Evaluation Phase

In this phase it measures the effectiveness and efficiency of the

developed game, The researchers will evaluate their pre test scores and post test
scores to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the developed game.
