INTRODUCTION

• WHAT IS MOTION??
Motion is the change in position of an object wiTH respect to its
surroundings in a given interval of time.
Example:-Walking ,Running ,Playing,etc
DISTANCE
• THE LENGTH BETWEEN THE TO POINTS IS KNOWN AS
DISTANCE
DISPLACMENT

•THE SHORTEST PATH BETWEEN

THE TWO POINTS IS KNOWN AS
DISPLACMENT.
• DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DISTANCE AND
DISPLACMENT

DISTANCE DISPLACMENT
1.THE LENGTH BETWEEN THE 1.THE
SHORTEST DISTANCE
TWO POINTS BETWEEN TWO POINTS
2.IT IS SCALER QUANTITY 2.IT IS VECTOR QUANTITY

3. IT CAN NEVER BE ZERO 3. IT CAN BE ZERO

UNIFORM MOTION

• Uniform motion is a type of motion in which an object moves in a

straight path at a constant speed.
• This means that the body's velocity remains constant because it
travels the same distance in the same amount of time.
• Eg :
NON UNIFORM MOTION
• If unequal distances are travelled by an object in equal time
intervals, then its motion is said to be non-uniform.
• EG:A horse running in the race,etc
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE UNIFORM AND NON-
UNIFORM MOTION
UNIFORM MOTION NON-UNIFORM
MOTION
1. Uniform motion has zero 1.The non-uniform motion has non-
acceleration. zero acceleration.
2.Uniform motion travels an equal 2.Non-uniform motion travels unequal
distance at an equal time duration. distances at equal time duration.

3.In uniform motion, the distance to 3.In non-uniform motion, the distance
time graph shows a straight line to time graph shows a curved line.
SPEED
•SPEED IS DISTANCE COVERED BY AN
OBJECT UPON TIME TAKEN BY AN
OBJECT
VELOCITY
• velocity is the speed at which something moves
in one direction.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPEED
AND VELOCITY
SPEED VELOCITY
Scalar quantity Vector quantity

Speed can never be negative Velocity can be zero,

or zero. negative, or positive.
Speed is measured in m/s Velocity is measured in m/s
ACCELERATION

• The rate of change of velocity is acceleration

THREE EQUATIONS OF MOTION

1st : v=u+at
2nd:s=ut+1/2at2
3rd:v2-u2=2as
