PROJECT TITLE: SMART MONITORING SYSTEM FOR
 Introduction
In this project I want to make a monitoring system
of distribution transformers. Here I will control all
distribution transformers from control room. I will
use current and potential transformers to measure
the current and voltage of the distribution
transformers and display the readings via
controller to the control room. I use relay or
magnetic switch on one distribution transformer
which is used to cut connection from main line
coming from the grid station to protect the
 Problem Statement
Power protection in distribution transformer drop out fuses
and surge arrester are useful for protection of transformer,
during the process of protection they cut off the electric
power from the transformer and do not restore power back to
transformer automatically after any fault occurrence such as
overcurrent or overvoltage.
This lead to customers not having electricity during
maintenance. Also this system encounter several drawback
such that running cost, require high maintenance ,breakdown
voltage value is affected by atmospheric condition and there is
possibility of breaking and falling across the line conductor
that lead short circuit.
 Project Objectives
The objectives of this project is mainly divided into two
categories, these are

• Specific objectives

Main Objective
The main objective of this project is to design smart
monitoring system for distribution transformer protection
system.
 Specific objectives

• Improve the operating condition of the power system and increase reliability
of the grid.
• Improving the power system stability.
• Proving protection to operating personnel against fault current and
overvoltage.
• Providing protection to electrical equipment against overvoltage excess fault
currents.
• To simplify the detection of overvoltage and overcurrent in protection system.
